How to Clean Brick Inside
Check for Cracks
Cleaning exterior brick calls for pressure washing. Before cleaning, walk around your home to check for any gaps or cracks in your brick1. Pressure washing is very strong, so it's important to prevent further damage from occurring.
Clear Your Area
Depending on where the brick is indoors, you will likely need to clear out the area. If you're cleaning brick walls, push all furniture out of the way so you have an open space to move. If you're cleaning brick flooring, it's best to move the furniture out of the room entirely so you can reach every crevice.ikkkloo
Vacuum or Sweep
Next, you will want to vacuum your wall or sweep your floors to remove any excess dust or debris from the surface.Fill Your Spray Bottle
Unscrew the top of your spray bottle and fill it with warm water. Mix the water with a few drops of dish soap to get sudsy water.Spray Your Walls or Flooring
Spray a generous amount of cleaner on your walls and flooring to loosen up tough dirt and stains. Let the mixture sit on the brick for a few minutes to sink into the material.Scrub Stains
For any stains or tough dirt particles, gently scrub with your nylon-brush to remove them from the brick's surface.Rinse
After you've scrubbed the tough spots, rinse the walls or flooring with only warm water. Use your grout sponge to wipe down the area to buff your brick.

WARNING
If you do notice any cracks in your exterior brick, it's vitally important to repair them as soon as possible before cleaning.
Seal Windows and Electrical Items
Seal all windows and cover electrical items such as your sockets prior to pressure washing. You can do this by locking your windows from the inside and covering all sockets with duct tape.
Don't Forget Your Shrubs
Have a nice garden or a front flower bed? Cover them up with a tarp to prevent chemicals from your cleaner from getting into the soil.Start on Low
Now you can begin washing. Start by washing the entire exterior on low pressure to get the brick wet and loose.
Tip
Don't forget to wear your safety goggles to protect your eyes from the water pressure and chemicals in your cleaner.Apply Your Cleaner
Mix together bleach and water, dip the grout sponge in the solution, and apply it to the brick. Allow the solution to sit on the surface for a few minutes so the bleach can set in and remove dirt or stains.Scrub Tough Stains
If you're cleaning the side of your exterior that does not see sunlight, it's possible you may notice moss or mildew. Take your nylon-bristled brush and scrub this area after the cleaner sits for a few minutes.Rinse
After your exterior walls are scrubbed, turn your pressure washer back on to rinse the brick on low pressure. Remember to rinse from top to bottom so the cleaning solution can run straight down.
Additional Tips to Keep Brick Clean Longer
Remember to inspect your bricks several times a year for any cracks or damage—preventative maintenance is key for long-lasting bricks. Stay consistent with your biannually (or more) brick cleaning schedule, especially indoors. Regularly vacuum off the dust from interior brick to keep it sanitized in living spaces, and for exterior brick, maintain overgrown moss or pesky plant growth.

If you live in a historical home, pressure washing is likely not the safest way to treat this precious exterior. Older, historical homes made with brick feature mortar that is softer than the mortar that is produced today. This style of aged brick requires specialty cleaning, which is best left to professionals who can properly treat it.
Brick Flooring Review: Pros and Cons
Brick is one of the oldest and most common building materials in the world, first developed as a substitute for natural stone. Traditionally, brick is made from earthen clays, shaped into rectangular blocks, then dried or fired to harden them for constructing walls or paving surfaces. The bricks used for flooring are known as clay pavers, and the type used for indoor applications are comprised of several different clays, including kaolin (China clay) that gives it a finer, denser texture that makes for a more attractive floor. Brick flooring pavers also include shale and iron in the composition to make them harder. Clay brick pavers are typically shaped the same as wall brick, but they are thinner, anywhere from 1/4 inch to about an inch thick. They are best suited for installation over concrete slabs on ground floors, since the weight is too great for a wood-framed flooring system to support. Brick flooring is very durable, but it requires sealing to protect it from stains, and its rustic appearance is not a good fit for every home design. And brick flooring is very hard, which makes it a poor choice if coziness is the goal.

ressure washers can be modified to produce a lower PSI, making them ideal for soft washing. It is perfectly safe to use a pressure washer as your soft wash system as long as you have the correct tips and working knowledge to do the work correctly. The high heat of a power washer can be harsher on surfaces and on your plants and garden. Since you're not cutting through any grease or tar, the cold water will be fine.
You should never pressure wash:
Electrical meters and panels
Asphalt shingles
Painted surfaces
Brick surfaces
Windows
Plants, flowers, and trees
Vehicles
